Light olefins represent the fundamental building blocks of the petrochemical industry, yet their traditional production via steam cracking remains carbon-intensive. This study presents a novel integrated framework for sustainable olefin production by coupling advanced air-steam plasma gasification of municipal solid waste (MSW) with Methanol-to-Olefins (MTO) and Dimethyl Ether-to-Olefins (DTO) pathways. The key innovation lies in the systematic, stoichiometric-driven optimization that harmonizes gasification performance with the precise requirements of intermediate synthesis, providing a robust methodological bridge between heterogeneous waste processing and high-value chemical production. Sensitivity analysis identified optimal plasma gasification conditions via S/MSW and ER ratios. Comparative results demonstrate that the DTO pathway significantly outperforms the MTO configuration, achieving an overall system efficiency of 76.82% compared to 51.38% for MTO. Advanced heat integration analysis further highlights the superiority of the DTO route, achieving a dramatic 93.15% reduction in heating utility and a 66.91% reduction in cooling utility, whereas the MTO system's heat recovery was limited to 37.63% and 30.30%, respectively. Techno-economic assessment confirms that both pathways are industrially viable under optimized conditions; however, the DTO route exhibits superior economic potential with a substantially higher NPV of 67.22 M$ and a lower LCOO of 658.19 $/t, compared to 3.29 M$ and 1083.22 $/t for the MTO route. These findings establish the DTO pathway via plasma gasification as a highly efficient, energy-integrated, and economically robust waste-to-wealth solution for sustainable chemical production within a circular economy framework.
