This study presents a 3D-printed cavity-based triboelectric device for harvesting electrical energy from low-frequency sound waves. Perforated aluminum electrodes with different hole numbers (121, 225, and 442) were investigated to evaluate the relationship between perforation geometry and electrical output. A separate microphone-based acoustic-response measurement was conducted over 50–1200 Hz at 80 dB, showing a pronounced response in the low-frequency region. The theoretically estimated Helmholtz resonant frequency of 211.40 Hz did not exactly coincide with the maximum measured acoustic response and was therefore treated as a theoretical estimate. Electrical output measurements conducted at 100–150 Hz and 100 dB showed that the 442-hole configuration produced the highest output, approximately 44.14 V and 0.57 μA, during the 10-min tests. During a 60-min repeated acoustic-excitation test at 100 Hz and 100 dB, output signals of up to approximately 100 V and 2 μA were observed. The device illuminated approximately 70 LEDs, while the rectified output charged a 220 μF capacitor to approximately 3.1 V within 200 s, corresponding to a stored energy of approximately 1.06 mJ. The stored energy was sufficient to activate a temperature and humidity sensor. These results demonstrate the preliminary feasibility of a simple cavity-based triboelectric configuration for low-frequency acoustic energy harvesting.
