Information from the abstract
This study examined the role of transformational leadership in influencing employees’ food waste reduction performance by focusing on the mediating roles of self-efficacy and pro-environmental intention. Data were collected from 408 kitchen employees working at restaurants in Phuket, Thailand. The results show that transformational leadership has both direct and indirect effects on food waste reduction performance, with self-efficacy and intention serving as complementary mediators. Theoretically, this study advances understanding by linking leadership styles to employees’ cognitive and motivational factors in sustainability practices. Practically, it provides actionable insights for restaurants in high-demand tourist areas, emphasizing leadership toward sustainability goals.
