The study of the Chinese cultural context, characterized by social relationships, collective values, and societal expectations, significantly influences individual behavior and motivation in this study. This study focuses on the Chinese cultural context, which significantly influences individual behavior and motivation through social relationships, collective values, and societal expectations. A total of 634 participants filled out the questionnaires. The study utilized Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) to examine hypotheses. Coping styles do not have a significant positive effect on students’ perceived social support. In contrast, self-efficacy emerges as a crucial factor in shaping students’ access to social support. The findings indicate that coping style has a positive and significant effect on entrepreneurial motivation, both directly and indirectly, with respect to social support. It suggests that effective coping mechanisms may empower students to pursue entrepreneurial motivation despite facing financial constraints. These underscore the importance for educational institutions to develop and implement targeted programs that nurture both self-efficacy and social support among students. The implications emphasize the necessity of culturally tailored interventions in Chinese higher education, such as peer networking and mentorship programs, which resonate with China’s collectivist values and support structures. Additionally, education stakeholders and government agencies can improve students’ entrepreneurial potential by establishing feedback-friendly channels towards social support.
