Prospective biomarker cohort evidence

First-trimester plasma asprosin and its association with gestational diabetes mellitus: A prospective cohort study

This prospective cohort enrolled 302 low-risk singleton pregnancies at 10–14 weeks, measured plasma asprosin, and assessed gestational diabetes at 24–28 weeks. Ninety-eight participants (32.5%) developed GDM. Asprosin varied with BMI but did not discriminate later GDM, with an AUC of 0.516. The study provides a first-trimester reference range and evidence against using this biomarker alone for early screening.

Factors associated with microvascular complications in patients with type 2 diabetes in Mueang District, Phitsanulok Province

A hospital-based case-control study in Mueang Phitsanulok compared 130 patients with physician-diagnosed microvascular complications and 260 controls. Diabetes for at least seven years, blood pressure of 140/90 mmHg or higher and high stress were associated with complications. The extremely large association for no metformin use had a very wide CI and cannot establish a direct protective drug effect.

Psychometric Validation of a Family Adaptation Measure for First-Episode Psychosis

Researchers developed a culturally grounded measure of family adaptation and caregiving role engagement in Thai first-episode psychosis. Focus groups with 17 caregivers, item development and piloting preceded validation in 343 caregivers from four psychiatric hospitals, split into EFA (171) and CFA (172) groups. The 23-item, four-dimension FACRI explained 68.71% of variance and had overall Cronbach's alpha of 0.94. This is preliminary validity evidence, not a diagnostic test or proof of patient benefit.

Catchment-scale modelling framework

A hydrological-year stratified regionalization framework for sediment rating curves in the largest tributary of the Mekong River

In the Mun River Basin, the Mekong's largest tributary, researchers developed a sediment-rating-curve regionalisation framework for sparse monitoring conditions. Flood, normal and drought years were separated before comparing regression and catchment-similarity approaches. Sediment-discharge behaviour varied by hydrological condition, while the preferred method depended on slope and erosion-related catchment attributes, arguing against a single static curve for every place and year.

Sequence and computational prediction evidence

Mapping HLA-restricted T-cell epitopes within conserved regions of Plasmodium vivax circumsporozoite protein from Thailand

PvCSP sequences from 34 P. vivax-infected patients in Southern Thailand were compared with 281 public sequences from Brazil and Vanuatu. IEDB predictions mapped T-cell epitopes against prevalent Thai HLA alleles. Conserved N- and C-terminal regions contained dense CD4+ and CD8+ targets, and cumulative modelled population coverage reached 95.86% in Southeast Asia. These are vaccine-design candidates, not observed immunogenicity or protection.

Laboratory antagonism and preliminary toxicity evidence

Antagonistic Activity and Preliminary Toxicity Assessment of a Bacillus subtilis TU089 Bioproduct Against Phytophthora palmivora Causing Durian Root and Stem Rot

Five Bacillus strains were screened against Phytophthora palmivora MNP13, which causes durian root and stem rot. B. subtilis TU089 inhibited growth by 76.56±0.23% on plates and was developed into an encapsulated product at about 10^8 CFU/mL that retained activity comparable to fresh cells. Cell assays yielded IC10 values of 1,090 µg/mL in MRC-5 and 309.82 µg/mL in HaCaT cells; acute oral testing found no significant adverse effects under the studied conditions. Efficacy remains laboratory-based and safety preliminary.

Sevuparin in children with severe malaria: a phase I safety and dose-finding trial

A phase I trial in Kenyan and Zambian children hospitalised with severe malaria tested adjunctive sevuparin as three infusions at 0, 8 and 16 hours. Twenty-three children were enrolled and 20 were included in the primary analysis. Model-guided escalation and dose-limiting APTT prolongation led to a maximum tolerated dose of 3 mg/kg per infusion. This is an early safety and dose-finding result, not evidence of clinical efficacy.

Health risks and lag effects of ambient PM2.5 exposure on respiratory and cardiovascular mortality and morbidity in Ratchaburi, Thailand

Using a distributed lag non-linear model, the study linked ambient PM2.5 with respiratory and cardiovascular mortality and morbidity in Ratchaburi during 2015–2019, from the exposure day through seven subsequent days. Across all ages and genders, each 10 µg/m³ increase was associated with 5.42% higher respiratory mortality at lag 0 and 2.69% higher respiratory morbidity over lag 0–6.

Predictors of preeclampsia with severe features: A multi-center analysis of maternal and health system factors in Thai tertiary hospitals

Across four Thai tertiary hospitals, a case-control study compared 156 postpartum women with preeclampsia: 52 with and 104 without severe features, alongside data from 111 nurse-midwives. After adjustment for antenatal visits and gravidity, prior preeclampsia was associated with 5.99-fold higher odds of severe features. Moderate knowledge and higher BMI showed inverse associations, which should not be treated as causal protection.

Balancing tradition, modernity, and spirituality: A grounded theory of non-communicable disease management in the Tai Saek Ethnic Group of Thailand

A qualitative study of 18 Tai Saek adults from two Nakhon Phanom villages described NCD management as a non-linear negotiation among traditional lifeways, changing agriculture and diet, generational relations, spirituality and biomedicine. Participants did not simply reject modern care; they selectively combined ancestor worship with clinical treatment. This could support cultural empowerment, while heavy reliance on rituals could delay biomedical care.

Experiences and coping strategies among cancer patients with cancer-related cognitive impairment treated with chemotherapy: a mixed-methods systematic review

This mixed-methods systematic review synthesized 21 studies of chemotherapy-treated cancer patients with cancer-related cognitive impairment. Memory, concentration, and executive-function problems affected daily life, work, relationships, and emotions. Coping included memory aids, self-regulation, task modification, lifestyle changes, and social support. Perceived benefit is not trial-proven clinical efficacy.

The Socio-Economic Asymmetry Index (SEA): A Framework for Identifying Vulnerability–Exposure Mismatch in Flood-Prone Agricultural Landscapes

This study introduces the Socio-Economic Asymmetry Index (SEA) to identify agricultural areas where socioeconomic vulnerability outweighs physical flood exposure. The framework was tested at 63,010 sampling points in Thailand's Upper Chi River Basin using satellite and land-use data, six composite indices, Random Forest, and SHAP. About one quarter of the study area fell into high or very high asymmetry classes. The result is a spatial modelling tool for prioritising field assessment and support; it does not establish which factors causally produce flood losses.
